Our Dating Sim (South Korea, 2023)
Our Dating Sim (South Korea, 2023) and why is it so successful (well... what works best in my opinion)
A little more than a month ago Our Dating Sim (South Korea, 2023) finished airing. It is currently rated 8.0 on mydramalist, the highest rate comes from the age group 18-24 (8.8), followed by age group 25-34 (8.7). There is not a category it would drop under 8,5. Why is it so successful? For me the biggest charm of Our Dating Sim (South Korea, 2023) is incredible playfulness with the concept of storytelling. And the charm of the two main male leads as well helps it incredibly. Including leaving behind dead fish kisses many times opting rather for pecks on cheek and let's not forget about the merely iconic pat on ass, because I was nearly screaming yes when it happened, and I realized it. Finally!
The short format of 15 minutes per episode and 8 episodes in total incredibly helped not to drag things. It is not a given that it happens but here it really happened, and I am so glad for it. We immediately know who comes to confess first. We immediately know that now it is the turn of the other one. We immediately know that they still love each other. Their work is creative, inspiring, and breathtaking. As much as we need to, we see into how things are done in their work and for it.
And did I already mention, how charming the main leads are? Plus – characters who can work together. Like their chemistry can work together.
They have their flaws (fear, anxiety, dependence). And they have their strengths (great amount of patience, love, dedication, faithfulness, genuineness, purity).
They are absolutely adorable in being likable characters.
They are exquisite and I hope for more, as it happened in case of Kim Ji Woong & Yoon Seo Bin, when after Kissable Lips (South Korea, 2022) the same actors reunited for the project Roommates of Poongduck 304 (South Korea, 2022).
Always present game after game after game on a game in a game, making a game of not so much a game made it so much interesting! And the lovely love measure at the end of each episode – the framing of each episode – it was such a brilliant idea! The fresh flashbacks into the past. By the way, I really don't understand the tags on mydramalist, because it's more of a “friends into lovers” or “office romance” then anything high school or university themed… you are welcome and don't forget to enjoy!
