About 9th episode of The Promise สัญญา I ไม่ลืม (Thailand, 2023)
Let's start at the beginning – are
you kidding me with the 34 minutes of the episode?! This is the shortest one
ever! You don't expect something that starts with 50+ minutes per episode to
end with one of the last episodes in 30-minutes episode! I require the uncut
version now!
Second thing second, I despise the
suggestions, but if you provide us with suggestions of what might have happened
between two characters, one of them support, one of them main, then at least
please have the decency to state it plainly – what happened between them?! I'm
going crazy with this. Especially if you intend for the other main male lead
and the support character to become brothers later!
Your whole storytelling for episode 9 is mismatched, unbelievably short and it does not make sense! I don't care if you messed up with this episode. I don't care why you must take 3 weeks of a break – or was it a month? – between releasing the second half of the story. Please tell me there is an uncut version. I want to see even the messed-up version. Cause I for sure hope at least that makes sense.
Aka I really don't appreciate
jumping from one situation to the other, from one scene to the other – with
audacious 30 minutes that should have been 50 minutes, you know.
As well, you want to tell me that
these dudes couldn't speak to each other. They had to wait for – how many
years? 20? – and then the big revelation, the confession that should have been
absolutely intimate and absolutely dedicated, romantic, tentative but grand –
though not for public eyes – is throwed to each other, in front of everyone, in
the middle of a stupid love song, written approx. 10 years ago, without any
sort of any explanation or attempt for it, without any sort of connection, that
this is the reason that made the main male lead to leave the other main male
lead? (I won’t even mention lack of any explanation from the other main male
lead, why or how he understood Phupa and lack of connecting it with NanFah breaking
his own rule of “never dating his friends”, that should exactly at that moment
resurface, because it would hurt my head that is already hurting!)
Half-cooked,
not intimate at all, just to get rid of it – placed at the beginning of the
episode, in the middle of something else happening, that wasn't even resolved!
Third things third. We have zero love scenes. If you denied us this
throughout the whole process of this series, then I would expect IMPACTFUL one
here and now – episode 9. We were given one kissing scene, and I'm not sure how
important that one even is or what does it even mean to the MMLs. We don't even
have the time to absorb what happened, and under what excuse of circumstances,
because we are jumping right away into many other sorts of actions including
the most difficult and disgusting one – moving to China. I must say I admire
creators for the audacity to drag moving to China into this whole mess. Me
providing audiences with such a s*….torm, I wouldn't dare to bring another difficult
decision-making into the whole mess of SO MANY unresolved issues.
I feel unsettled, I feel itchy, I feel disparate and desperate, I don't
feel satisfied for sure! (And in all the wrong places, because this type of
storytelling is not supposed to make us feel this to end&land
successfully!)
I imagined nothing like that for
this series for the last two episodes, so it makes me profoundly disappointed. Because
I so much hoped and trusted in this story. And I am yet not giving up, but I am
leaving disappointed. Because I carry no such great faith in the last episode
to save the whole debacle from episode 9 or to save the day for the whole
story.
You started so great; you had the
land prepared so well. What were you doing there at the last minute, creators?!
*I
CRY*
This story didn't
deserve this end(ing)!
*I INSIST – I STILL CRY!*
